An appeal has been launched to trace relatives of a pensioner who has died.

The plea has been made by Hartlepool Borough Council after town man Robert Russell passed away aged 92 on Thursday, April 23, in Lindisfarne Care Home, Seaham.

Leesa Sunley, the authority’s user property and finance officer, has now said: “We are naturally very keen to trace Mr Russell’s surviving relatives at this sad time.

“Unfortunately the details which we have are very limited, but we understand that he has nieces and nephews who may still live in Hartlepool.

“We would be very grateful if any members of Mr Russell’s family could please get in touch with us.”

Mr Russell was born on January 15, 1928, and anyone who is related to him or who can assist the council inquiry should contact Ms Sunley by phone on (01429) 523879.
