Arrest made as man found injured in Hartlepool street

A man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent after a 26-year-old has been taken to hospital with injuries following an ‘incident’ in a Hartlepool street.

Police officers were called to a report of an incident in Brafferton Street at 6.50pm last night (Tuesday, May 19) where it was reported a man had suffered an injury to his arm and another man was reportedly in possession of a weapon.

Officers attended the scene and the uninjured man was traced via CCTV to a property on Duke Street.

The injured man, a 26-year-old, was taken to hospital with minor injuries to his arm.

A spokesman for Cleveland Police force said: “PC Rashad and PD Rocky entered a property on this street and a short time later, a man aged 27 was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and he remains in custody.

“The injured male, 26, was taken to James Cook University Hospital where he is being treated for minor injuries to his arm.”

Part of Topcliffe Street, near to its junction with Duke Street, was cordoned off by police for a number of hours last night as officers carried out their inquiries.

Cleveland Police were unable to confirm any other details surrounding the nature of the incident.

Now officers are appealing for anyone with information regarding the incident to contact police on 101 quoting 080268.
