B&B plans approved

Plans to transform a County Durham home into a bed and breakfast guesthouse have been given the go-ahead.

Last year, a ‘change of use’ bid was lodged for 1 The Barns in Trimdon Grange, Trimdon Station.

This included converting an existing garage into an additional bedroom and erecting a double garage to the rear.

During consultation, Durham County Council’s Environmental Health department carried out a review of the potential impact of the plans.

According to planning documents, Senior Environmental Health Officer, Emma Tindall, said the development was “unlikely to cause a statutory nuisance.”

Her statement reads:“The proposed use as a bed and breakfast will be undertaken in close proximity to other residential uses.

“However the bed and breakfast facility will not create any increased noise levels within the area.

“There may be an increase in vehicle movements to and from the site however this should not impact on the overall noise climate of the area.”

The proposals were given the final go-ahead on April 2.
