Best of Hartlepool: Nominate your heroes for the recognition they deserve

Today, we launch this year’s search for contestants for our Best of Hartlepool Awards.

And we’re hoping to discover even more of the heroes who make our community tick. You might be a top role model or a fantastic fundraiser.

You could be a green champion or an outstanding sportsperson. Perhaps you are one of the town’s many outstanding children who have achieved excellence. We want to hear from you all.

We also want to find winners in our sports team, community champion, community group and emergency services categories. And we want to discover the best neighbours, volunteers, carers and students. One of the highlights at each of the annual attraction is the Child of Courage category.

Last year, there were tears of joy,pride and utter admiration as four brave children collected their trophies. Every guest at the Best of Hartlepool Awards was on their feet to applaud the Child of Courage winners – Dylan Davis, Lucy Owens, Jack Stevens and Sonny Wood.

Now, we want to find this year’s heroes and here’s how to do it. Get nominating and let’s make sure those unsung heroes of the town get the recognition they really do warrant.

This year, the competition is being held in association with Niramax while Specsavers are also on board as a category sponsor. We’ll be telling you more about them in the days to come and we are delighted to have them with us.

There’s plenty of time to put forward your favourites as the deadline to put forward entries is Saturday, April 2.

After that, the competition judges will draw up a shortlist for each category. Let’s make it a really tough job for them by giving them lots of excellent nominations to choose from.

Then, it’s on to the grand finale at the Hardwick Hall Hotel on Tuesday, April 26.
