Miles for Men has been handed the funds by the Corporation Club in town. It was raised through bingo sessions and the money was collected by charity founder Michael Day.

Charity spokesman Kevin Hill said: “He was asked to attend a meeting at the club where he was met by Terry Bradley, Tony Foster and stewardess Mary Richardson from the club. The club has been running a bingo fundraiser on Friday nights in memory of big Miles for Men follower Richard Bradley who sadly past away last year.

“Terry said that this is where Richard would have wanted the £330 to go for their continuing hard work for families in the town. We would like to say a massive thank you to Terry and also Mary and Tony for making this happen – the people of Hartlepool once again raising funds for a great cause.”

The Corporation Club is now urging people to support its latest fundraising cause which will be bingo nights to support Help the Heroes.

Michael Day set up Miles for Men in 2012 after losing his father, Michael senior, to throat cancer in 2007. It started out with a sponsored run and now includes many more events.
