The twice-capped Brazilian international joined Boro from Cardiff City in 2016 - but had fallen out of favour under new manager Tony Pulis.

Now, however, Fabio has completed his move to Ligue 1 for a fee believed to be around €2m.

Speaking after arriving in France, the defender said: "It's great, I'm very happy I'm coming to Nantes, it's a good club.

"I'm really looking forward to training and being ready to help my team-mates. I already know them a bit because I have seen matches on TV.

"I tried to do my best every day and give my all, I hope you can return to the Premier League very soon.

"Thank you, you will always be in my heart. Up the Boro #UTB."
