Broken down train causes delays between Hartlepool and Newcastle

A broken down train near Seaham is causing disruption to trains between Hartlepool and Newcastle.

Trains are currently unable to run from Hartlepool towards Newcastle.

Trains will be diverted where possible according to National Rail.

Disruption is expected to continue until approximately 10am.

Road transport has been requested to operate between Hartlepool and Sunderland with an estimated departure of 09.10am.

Passengers at Sunderland and Heworth travelling towards Newcastle can use Tyne & Wear Metro services.
