The Beachwatch litter pick and survey takes place on Saturday, January 23, at Seaton Carew beach from 11am to around 12.30pm.

All necessary equipment will be provided to volunteers so all that is needed is enthusiasm to help in a community project which will enormously benefit the town.

The event is being organised by Deborah Jefferson, Hartlepool Countryside Officer, and hot drinks will be provided at the end of the exercise.

Anyone wishing to take part should meet at the coach park, near the water treatment works, off The Front, at 11am.

It is part of the Marine Conservation Society's nationwide efforts to record the type of waste on Britain's beaches and help protect sea life.
