It was announced last year that Hartlepool's Crown Post Office, in the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, was set to close.

The proposal put forward was to move postal services to inside the town’s WH Smith’s store, which is also part of the shopping centre.

However, the Communication Workers Union (CWU) and Public Services Alliance believe it could significantly impact postal service in the area.

They will take part in the event, which is on between 11.30am and 1.30pm.

Clare Williams, chair of the Public Services Alliance, said: "I’m proud that the trade union movement is still going strong despite almost a decade long onslaught by the government against public services – still providing support, education, legal advice, training and representation for their members every day.

"We are delighted to be joined by Sue Jeffrey, leader of Redcar & Cleveland Council and Labour candidate in the upcoming Tees Valley Mayoral elections, who understands the importance of working with trade unions speaking up for ordinary people."
