Steve Timms, 30, from Hartlepool, has already raised £2,400 after launching a fundraising campaign in wife Steffi’s name.

The ex-military serviceman hopes to realise his 38-year-old wife’s final wish by taking the couple and their daughters Estrella, 15, and Chiara, 14, to the Paris resort at Easter and originally set a target of £3,000 for the GoFundMe appeal.

Steffi was first diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2013, which later returned and spread to her bowel and bladder in 2014.

She underwent surgery to remove her bladder in 2014 and in January 2015, following Steffi’s reverse Stoma, the Timms were starting to settle back into normal family life.

But last month the family received more devastating news as they learned that Steffi had terminal cancer, and she was given just three to 12 months left to live.

Steve said: “Steffi is trying to live day by day to the full but she finds some days a struggle, as she feels her body is slowly shutting down.

“I launched the GoFundMe campaign because one of Steffi’s wishes before she passes away is to have a family holiday – we’ve never had one due to me always being away or working.

“Her dream is to go to Disneyland Paris and I’m hoping I can give her this wish.

“We weren’t expecting the campaign to be so successful, so quickly, and we are overwhelmed by each and every donation that is bringing us closer to making her wish a reality.”

Kelsea Little, spokeswoman for GoFundMe.com, said: “The GoFundMe Team is thinking of the Timms family during this difficult time in their lives.

“We hope the support for their campaign continues to flow in, and can help Steffi, Steve, Estella and Chiara make some lasting memories during their holiday together.”
