It happened in Stockton Road near St Cuthbert's Church earlier today.

Our picture shows how the Citroen C3 VTR was badly damaged in the accident.

Thankfully however no-one was injured.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: "We received a report of a car accident in Stockton Road in Hartlepool at 1.30pm on Thursday.

"A blue Citroen C3 VTR had collided with a lamp-post.

"No-one was injured in the incident."
