The coffee shop at Field View, Hesleden Road, which is home to 38 residents and offers residential care for the elderly and those living with dementia, was decorated with lanterns, fans and red decorations, the traditional colour of good luck.

Among the activities enjoyed by the residents was an Asian tasting buffet featuring a selection of Chinese dishes and dips. Residents also made their own Chinese lanterns, discussed traditions surrounding Chinese New Year and had the chance to view and try on traditional dress.

Field View Care Home Activities Co-ordinator Janice Hardy, said: “It’s always fun to try something new so we like to offer a varied range of activities and events for our residents to enjoy. Our Chinese New Year celebrations went down very well with residents. The Asian buffet was big hit and we all had fun making lanterns and learning about Chinese New Year customs and traditions.”
