Caring primary pupils raise cash for Hartlepool hospice

Youngsters from Jesmond Gardens Primary School, Hartlepool, raised more than £1,500 last year for the Hartlepool & District Hospice to help fund the charity’s specialist patient care services.

Staff and pupils organised a family fun run, Christmas jumper day, a wear purple day and Olaf raffle to help raise money.

Ten pupils from the school also took part in an inter-school dancing competition, Strictly Salsa Kids hosted by Carol Hammond, which raised more than £5,000 for the hospice.

Victoria Kelly, deputy headteacher at the school, said: “We are very proud of our school community and their amazing fundraising efforts over the last year for our school charity.

“We have some other exciting things in the pipe line and are looking forward to supporting the hospice in the future as they are vital to our local community.”

Hospice community fundraiser, Janice Forbes, said: “The support we have had from staff and students is fantastic; it is inspiring to see such caring young people supporting the hospice.”
