The event was held at Middleton Grange Shopping centre at the weekend and was organised by Alfie’s aunt Melanie Stalley.

The fundraiser involved a disco, character from Paw Patrol and Hartlepool FC mascot H’Angus making an appearance.

Shoppers were also able to see for the first time a car which will take part in a rally event later this year, which has been designed with an image of Alfie on the bonnet.

It is thought the event raised around £600.

It comes as people are being invited to party the night away at two events taking place to help raise funds for Hartlepool schoolboy Alfie Smith.

The Hedworth Hall in South Tyneside is being taken over by Cleadon and District Rotary Club and Community Corner on Saturday night.

Downstairs, rotary club member Rob Mackins has organised a live music night with bands including Second Landing, Like Wookie, Death to Indie and Fire Lady Luck.

The event will be raising funds for Alfie and two other good causes in South Tyneside.

The nine-year-old who has cerebral palsy is aiming to raise at least £50,000 for an operation which will enable him to walk for the first time.

Meanwhile, upstairs Community Corner who have been organising and looking after the fundraising efforts for Alfie in South Tyneside are hosting a family-themed party.

The events are just some of the fundraising activities to take place for Alfie in South Tyneside after news of his plight was heard by residents.

The total raised by Community Corner will be handed to the family following the party night.

Both events start at 7pm, tickets are priced £5 and can be bought on the door.
