Child airlifted to hospital after impaling arm on railing at Hartlepool Marina

A child was taken to hospital by air ambulance after they impaled their arm on a railing on the last day of the half-term holiday.

Cleveland Fire Brigade and the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) were called to Fleet Avenue, next to Hartlepool Marina, at around 5pm on Friday, June 5.

The NEAS sent a paramedic crew before alerting the Great North Air Ambulance (GNAA).

The fire service freed the youngster, with the GNAA helicopter taking the child to James Cook University Hospital for treatment.
