Child taken to hospital after collision with van near Hartlepool primary school

The town’s Seaton Lane was closed between its junctions with Brenda Road and Jutland Road after the incident near Golden Flatts Primary School on Tuesday, November 30, during rush hour.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said the force had received a call just after 8.30am to report that a primary age child had been in collision with a white van in Seaton Lane.

Hide AdThe youngster had been treated at the scene by staff from the North East Ambulance Service (North East Ambulance Service) before being taken to Middlesbrough’s James Cook University Hospital for further treatment.
"The child is believed to have suffered a head injury and was tended to at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the James Cook University Hospital,” said the spokesperson.
She also urged motorists to avoid the area while an investigation was carried out into the incident, adding on Tuesday morning: “Seaton Lane has been closed to allow collision investigation work to get underway so we would ask motorists to seek alternative routes.”
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said it had sent two crews in response to the emergency call and taken a casualty to hospital.

"We dispatched two ambulance crews, and took one patient to James Cook Hospital for further treatment."
The extent of the child’s injuries and their condition has still to be revealed.
