EDC Travel was set up by East Durham College in partnership with Hays Independence Group and is based at the Peterlee Campus.

The store is managed by Julie Heath, who has over 20 years experience in the travel industry, and she is assisted by travel, tourism and business students who get firsthand work experience.

Julie said: “These first 100 days have been an absolute whirlwind since we opened, we have been really busy.

“We have had a great response since we opened up and have booked our customers up on some fantastic holidays from close to far away.

“As a full working travel agency we help to get these students work-ready as they leave college having already experienced what it’s like to work in a fully-licensed travel agency.”

Since opening its doors, EDC Travel has taken bookings from staff, students and the general public.

Customers have booked trips to places like Cabo Verde, Munich, Crete, Santorini and Dubai.
