Company’s backing is music to brass band’s ears

The GT Group has helped the GT Group Band Peterlee since the early 1990s when company chairman Geoff Turnbull created the partnership.

Since then it has donated almost £100,000.

Mr Turnbull said: “The GT Group Band is one of the cornerstones of the local community and does a great job flying the flag for Peterlee. I’ve been delighted to sponsor the band for the last 21 years.”

The musicians compete in Section 1 of the National Brass Band Championships and in Section A of the Durham County Brass Band League.

Trevor Langthorne, band secretary, said: “The sponsorship has allowed us to do much more and travel a lot further to competitions across the country.

“Geoff has been an excellent mentor and has provided us with great advice and guidance on professional matters.”
