Court hears girl accused of Hartlepol murder drew chilling picture

Two girls, now aged 14 and 15, deny murdering Ms Wrightson at her Stephen Street home in December 2014.

A trial at Leeds Crown Court today heard a transcript of an interview with the older girl, two days after Ms Wrightson's death.

She had been shown a picture which had been discovered during a search of her room. It showed a girl with long hair and a man with blood apparently pouring from a hole in his chest.

Asked what it showed, she replied: "I was going to do this thing, but it did not work."

Asked what it was supposed to be, she replied: "I don't know - I just got angry and went to my room. I started drawing pictures because I was really angry. I just drew something."

The court heard she had been advised to draw pictures to help her express her feelings.

"Asked by police whether the 'red' was blood and what the girl was holding, she replied: "I don't know."

She had told police: "I just went and drew it. When I looked at it, I calmed down, instead of smashing up my bedroom."

The case continues.
