It was their fourth win in the competition after following up a victory at Morpeth Town by beating fellow National League outfits Halifax Town and Chester at the Vic.

And Pools have confirmed Wednesday, December 13 as the date for the Reds to come to the Vic (kick-off 7pm).

It is the biggest night for Pools in the FA Youth Cup since the team, coached by Martin Scott, played at Old Trafford back in 2001-02, backed by thousands of Poolies.

Pools actually led Manchester United in the fifth-round tie at one stage before losing 3-2 in extra-time to a United side who included the likes of Phil Bardsley, Darren Fletcher and Kieran Richardson.

Harrison was in the crowd at Brunton Park in midweek and was impressed by the display of Ian McGuckin’s side.

“What a great reward for the lads,” said Harrison.

“To get the opportunity to go and test yourselves against the best young players in Europe is amazing.

“They thoroughly deserved it and I’m sure there’ll be plenty at the Vic because it will capture the imagination.”

Meanwhile, Pools’ youth team fixture at York City, which was due to be played today, has been postponed.
