Affray arrest as 'baton round' fired by police after disturbance at Hartlepool address

A woman is in the custody of Cleveland Police after a ‘disturbance’ at an address in Hartlepool.

Officers were called to King Oswy Drive, Hartlepool, at around 9.25pm on Tuesday, May 26 to reports of a disturbance.

In a statement released on Wednesday, May 27 a force spokeswoman confirmed to the Mail that a woman had been arrested on suspicion of affray and remains in police custody.

She said: “Just before 9.25pm last night, police were called to a report of a disturbance at an address on King Oswy Drive in Hartlepool.”

“A baton round was discharged to prevent serious injury to the woman or to the officers present, and to enable her arrest.

“The 52-year-old woman was taken to be checked over at hospital as a precaution, however she did not sustain any serious injury.

“She was subsequently released from hospital and taken into custody. Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
