Armed robbery at Hartlepool Barclays Bank - police hold man after raider made off with 'significant' amount of cash

Police have issued an appeal after an armed robbery at a bank in Hartlepool town centre which saw a large amount of cash stolen.

It happened at Barclays Bank in York Road at around 10.10am on Friday, June 12, and a male made off with a ‘significant’ amount of cash.

It is not known how much money was taken or what the alleged robber was armed with.

A man has been arrested over the incident.

Cleveland Police said: “Police were called to a report of an armed robbery at Barclays Bank on York Road, Hartlepool, at around 10.10am this morning, Friday 12th June.“No one was injured as a result of the incident. Officers have arrested a 49-year-old man in connection with the incident and he remains in custody whilst enquiries continue.”
