Crime scene investigation teams were working at the scene on Monday evening and the police cordon remains in place on Tuesday morning.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman confirmed today, Tuesday, May 19, that a man’s body had been discovered and an investigation was under way into the circumstances of his death.

Police will remain at the scene while the investigation continues.

“Officers were called to a report of a man’s body in an area next to Wiltshire Way in Hartlepool at 4:50pm yesterday, Monday 18th May,” she said

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.

The man’s identity has not yet been released.
