Cannabis farm worth 'hundreds of thousands of pounds' uncovered in Hartlepool street

Police officers have dismantled a cannabis farm worth “hundreds of thousands of pounds” in Hartlepool.

Cleveland Police confirmed it was called to the town’s Richmond Street, where officers made the discovery, at around 9am on Tuesday, August 25.

On arrival, Hartlepool Neighbourhood Policing Team found more than 180 cannabis plants, which police say are estimated to be worth around £1,000 each.

On Wednesday, August 26, the force confirmed that no arrests have been made yet, but inquiries into the find are continuing.

A spokesperson said: “Hartlepool Neighbourhood Policing Team dismantled a cannabis farm estimated to be worth hundreds of thousands of pounds in the town's Richmond Street yesterday.

"The team were at the scene at around 9am where they discovered more than 180 cannabis plants estimated to be worth around £1k each.

"No arrests have been made at this time but inquiries continue.”
