Fire service attend fire near Blackhall beach after grass sets alight
County Durham and Darlington fire service tackled the blaze at Blackhall Colliery beach this morning around 8.30am following reports that the beach’s bank were on fire.
The fire service confirmed they attended the grass fire and put out the blaze by 9.15am.

Hide AdThe service also confirmed that teams were also in the area and carrying out fire drills after the grass fire this morning.
The news comes after a large area of Summerhill Country Park and Outdoor Nature Reserve, off Catcote Road, in Hartlepool, was destroyed by a deliberate arson attack earlier last month before another fire broke out on the sand dunes between Crimdon and Steetley Pier less than 24 hours later.
Cleveland Police said they will be carrying out night time patrols in Seaton Carew over bank holiday after the increase of “unacceptable” incidents.
