Five arrested, car seized and cannabis farms uncovered as Police crackdown on drugs and car crime in town

Hartlepool Neighbourhood Police team arrested three men as a cannabis farm was seized from the Foggy Furze area of the town.

In total 75 mature plants were recovered. Three vehicles were seized on suspicion of being used in crime and three males were arrested on Saturday, September 26.

Cleveland Police are continuing to stress the safety risk that cannabis farms pose to communities.

They say often the electrics used to heat them are wired in such a dangerous way that they could cause a fire.

Elsewhere in the town a drugs warrant was executed on Thursday, October 1 in Sheriff Street.

47-year-old man was arrested and charged with possessing class B drugs.

Meanwhile a search of a Dryden Road property was also carried out the same day. A cannabis farm was found and dismantled.

This comes after vehicles were seized in two separate operations in the town earlier this week.

A vehicle was seized on Islay Grove, on Friday, September 25 and a 28 year-old man is now wanted by police on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while disqualified, Cleveland Police has said.

On Tuesday, September 29, a 20 year-old man was arrested on Inch Grove on suspicion of driving while disqualified, having no insurance or tax and also on suspicion of being in possession of class C drugs.

The vehicle he was driving was also seized.

A police spokesperson said: “We will not tolerate this sort of activity on our roads and offenders will be dealt with robustly.”
