Police have recovered a suspected handgun and a machete while raiding a £100,000-plus drugs den.

Hartlepool Police now want information from the public to help them trace those responsible for cultivating the cannabis farm and possessing the weapons.

A Cleveland Police statement on Wednesday, December 9, read: “A cannabis farm of around 150 mature plants, estimated to be worth more than £100k, was found in a property on Straker Street.

"The find was made at around 12.45pm, Tuesday, December 8.

“Officers searching the property also discovered what appears to be a handgun and a machete.

“No arrests have been made at this time and inquiries continue. Anyone with any information which may assist officers is asked to call 101, reference 199683.
