John William Dixon was initially spared an immediate jail term after he was convicted of attacking her in Hartlepool on December 7 last year.

But he is now behind bars for a total of 20 weeks after he admitted assaulting her again earlier this month and making threats to both damage her car and smash her house windows.

Dixon, 39, of no fixed address, was locked for 12 weeks for the May 2 attack.

Teesside Magistrates’ Court labelled the offence “serious” because it was committed while he was serving a suspended sentence for attacking the same victim.

The court also triggered the initial four-week suspended sentence as well as adding a further four weeks in custody after re-sentencing him for two assaults on another woman in Hartlepool on April 9 and 10, 2019.

In addition, Dixon received concurrent jail terms, meaning they will be served as part of the overall 20-week sentence, for the making threats charge and after he was re-sentenced for three other previous offences.

These included causing criminal damage by urinating on a police car in Middlesbrough on July 13 last year.

Dixon was also placed on a two-year restraining order to prevent him from contacting his May victim and ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge.
