A Hartlepool man has been remanded in custody after pleading guilty to trying to meet a child following grooming.

Lee Wright-King, 34, admitted three offences when he appeared at Teesside Crown Court on Thursday, October 20.

He pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child under the age of 16 between September 7 and 16 this year.

Wright-King admitted another count of the same offence relating to a different child between August 24 and September 21 and also to attempting to meet with this child following sexual grooming.

The case was adjourned before sentencing so a probation report can be prepared although a prison sentence is likely.

Judge Chris Smith said: “Clearly here when one looks at the guidelines it’s going to be assisting the court in the length of sentence rather than the type.”

But he told Wright-King, of Straker Street, Hartlepool, he would get a “considerable discount” for pleading guilty.

He will be sentenced next month.
