Hartlepool man ordered to pay compensation after stalking woman

A man has been ordered to pay hundreds of pounds in compensation after admitting stalking a woman over a period of three days.

Anthony Norman Calvert, 25, of Runciman Road, Hartlepool, is also now banned from contacting his victim via telephone, text or social media as part of a 12-month restraining order.

This extends to getting someone else to contact her on his behalf via similar means.

Calvert admitted two charges when he appeared before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court, in South Shields, earlier this month.

He pleaded guilty to pursuing a course of contact between July 11-13 which amounted to the stalking of his victim and which he knew or ought to have known amounted to harassment.

Calvert also admitted to causing £700 of criminal damage to two doors at her Gateshead home on July 5.

The court ordered him to pay £260 compensation and complete 120 hours of unpaid work as part of a community order.
