Hartlepool man remanded in custody after court appearance over cyclist's death

A man has appeared at magistrates’ court charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a collision in Hartlepool.

William Lee Stallard, 35, appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, August 1 after being arrested and charged by Cleveland Police following the death of cyclist Michael Waistell.

A spokeswoman for the force confirmed to the Mail on Saturday that Stallard, of Moffat Road, Hartlepool, was remanded in custody after the hearing.

He will appear at Teesside Crown Court on Tuesday, September 1.

Mr Waistell, aged 58, was the cyclist who died at the scene.

Cleveland Police continues to appeal for more information regarding the incident.
