Hartlepool man spared prison after taking delivery of MDMA drug

A man who took delivery of drugs at his house for someone else has been spared jail.

The class A drug MDMA, known as ecstasy in tablet form, was sent to the address of Craig Lewis, 29, in Hartlepool.

He pleaded guilty at Teesside Crown Court last month to possessing the drug with intent to supply on September 25 in 2018.

Lewis’s barrister Stephen Constantine previously told the court: “His address was effectively being used by another to import these drugs.

"They were sent to this defendant’s address where the other individual came and picked up the unopened packages.”

Lewis returned to court on Thursday, November 5, when he received 18 months prison suspended for two years.

The court previously heard he did not have a large criminal record.

Lewis, of Taunton Grove, was also given a 12 month alcohol treatment requirement programme and 30 probation rehabilitation activity requirement days.
