Hartlepool man who denied making more than 800 child porn images will stand trial later this year

A Hartlepool man denied child porn charges over a police discovery of hundreds of sex abuse images.

Alan Walton, 35, denied charges of making more than 800 images of varying degrees of seriousness, comprising of Category A, B, and C.

Walton pleaded not guilty at Teesside Crown Court to making 293 images at the most serious Category A level between October 12, 2018, and January 28 this year.

He also denied making 158 images at Category B and 417 at Category C.

Walton, of Stephen Street, Hartlepool, also pleaded not guilty to breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order imposed on September 12, 2017, at Teesside Crown Court.

His defence barrister Nigel Soppitt said that the future trial would take around one day.

Judge Stephen Ashurst extended Walton’s unconditional bail until the trial date on September 17, saying that he was still subject to other conditions from the Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
