Hartlepool man's jail warning over imported drugs delivered to his home

A Hartlepool man whose address was used to send drugs to has been warned he could be jailed.

Craig Lewis, 29, admitted to possessing a class A drug with intent to supply on September 24, 2018.

It relates to a quantity of MDMA, often referred to as ecstasy, that Lewis is said to have taken delivery of for someone else.

His lawyer Stephen Constantine told Teesside Crown Court: “His address was effectively being used by another to import these drugs.

"They were sent to this defendant’s address where the other individual came and picked up the unopened packages.”

Lewis, of Taunton Grove, Hartlepool, will be sentenced on Thursday, November 5.

The court heard he does not have a bad record and a pre-sentence report was ordered.

Recorder Ata Dallas said: “The fact that I’m adjourning and calling for a pre-sentence report should not be taken by you as any indication as to the eventual outcome.

"All options including custody will be under consideration.”
