Hartlepool washing products thief jailed after failing to make clean getaway

A woman who failed to make a clean getaway after stealing washing products has been jailed.

Rebecca Wahab was locked up for six weeks after she admitted committing a spate of thefts across Hartlepool between March 1 and May 13.

Her targets included the Spar, in Catcote Road, Boots in Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, and the town’s Shell Warren garage.

Among the products she stole were Ariel and Persil washing liquids as well as bottles of Hardy’s VR wine and Lindor chocolate bars.

Wahab admitted six thefts when she appeared before Teesside Magistrates’ Court, in Middlesbrough, plus a seventh charge of failing to surrender to custody on April 21.

She also received an additional 12 weeks behind bars as the court decided to trigger a suspended sentence imposed in March after she was convicted of two counts of assaulting police officers last December in Middlesbrough.

Wahab, 24, of Penrhyn Street, Hartlepool, was also ordered to pay £138.41 compensation by June 3.
