Hartlepool woman told to expect jail after admitting to a string of child sex crimes

A Hartlepool woman has been warned to expect jail after confessing to a series of child sex crimes.

Sandra O’Rourke, 47, pleaded guilty to 13 offences when she appeared at Teesside Crown Court on Thursday, June 25.

She admitted two counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, seven counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and four sexual assaults on a child.

Judge Jonathan Carroll told her: “In reality a custodial sentence is inevitable. I’m afraid you must now make any arrangements accordingly.

“By virtue of your pleas today you are now a convicted child sex offender.”

Her barrister Stephen Constantine asked for a pre-sentence report by the probation service before she is sentenced.

O’Rourke, of Harbour Walk, Hartlepool, was granted conditional bail and will be sentenced on Thursday, July 30.
