'It will not be tolerated': Police warning after racist abuse is aimed at Hartlepool shopkeeper

Hartlepool Neighbourhood Policing Team has issued a stern warning in the wake of the disturbance, which happened in Murray Street in the town yesterday, Thursday, June 18.
It is said a shop owner was abused by a member of the public, leading to a man being arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order.

Hide AdA spokesperson for the team said: “This type of behaviour will not be tolerated by Cleveland Police and we will take appropriate action on every occasion.”
They added people should “not hesitate to report any incidents of hate crime” using the non-emergency telephone number 101, or alternatively anonymously using Crimestoppers which can be called on 0800 111 555, while its website, https://crimestoppers-uk.org/, can also be used to pass on information.
