'Large group' shouted abuse and threw bottles at teenage boy in Hartlepool assault

A teenage boy was assaulted by a ‘large group’ of young people while he walked alone in a Hartlepool street, police say.

Cleveland Police issued an appeal on Saturday, November 7, following the incident in town, which it says took place on Tuesday, November 3.

Officers particularly want to speak to a woman who stopped her car and offered assistance to the teenage victim and may be able to help with the investigation.

The incident was reported to have happened between 4.30pm and 5pm on Tuesday.

While walking alone on Old Cemetery Road in the direction of the Headland, the victim received abuse from a large group of young people and items, thought to be bottles, were thrown at him.

He did not suffer serious injuries.

Hartlepool Neighbourhood Policing Team is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has information, to come forward.
