Man and woman remanded by court after facing charge over burglary and assault

A man and woman have been remanded in custody after a disturbance in Hartlepool left another man hurt.

He was taken to hospital for treatment for minor injuries and later released.

Officers made three arrests, including a 15-year-old girl who was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and assault by beating and has been released with bail conditions.

Since then, Dean McKenna, 28, from Lewis Grove, and Shanna McManus, 21, from Hawthorn Walk, both in Hartlepool, have appeared before Teesside Magistrates’ Court.

McKenna has been charged with burglary dwelling (inflict grievous bodily harm) and handling stolen goods while McManus was charged with burglary dwelling (inflict grievous bodily harm).

Neither entered a plea and were remanded in custody until their next appearance before Teesside Crown Court on Thursday, February 18.
