Man arrested in Hartlepool after police catch a vehicle driving at high speeds during the early hours

Cleveland Police have arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of a number of driving offences in Hartlepool during the early hours of Monday morning.

Officers from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit (CDSOU) had spotted a vehicle driving at high speeds at around 2.40am on Monday, February 15 in Hartlepool.

Police attempted to stop the the Vauxhall Grandland on Ivy Grove before two males and a female made off on foot.

The 23-year-old man, who is believed to be the driver of the car, was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of drugs, driving without insurance and other than in accordance with a licence.

It is understood that the man has since been released under investigation while police continue their inquires.

Cleveland Police are asking any members of the public with information relating to the incident to call them via 101 and quote incident number 24185.
