Man in court charged with threats to kill after armed police incident on Hartlepool's Headland

A man has appeared in court following an incident involving armed police on the Headland in Hartlepool at the weekend.

Adam Trainor, 32, of Oxford Road, Hartlepool, appeared at Teesside Magistrates Court in Middlesbrough on Monday, April 27.

He had been charged with affray, assault on an emergency worker and making threats to kill during an incident on Northgate on Saturday, April 25.

The allegation of assault on an emergency worker was withdrawn. No pleas on the other charges were made and have been sent to Teesside Crown Court to be heard on a date to be fixed.

Trainor was granted bail.

Around 10 Cleveland Police vehicles were called to Northgate late on Saturday in response to the incident.

They blocked the road as around 15 police officers appeared to focus their attention on a property in the area.

The incident came to an end at around 2am on Sunday, April 26.
