Man who took people carrier before crashing it in Hartlepool has been given interim ban

A man who took a people carrier and crashed it in Hartlepool was given an interim driving ban before he is sentenced.

Callum Barclay, 21, pleaded guilty at Teesside Crown Court to the aggravated taking without consent of a VW Sharan on September 9.

He also admitted dangerous driving on the same date on Davison Drive and Cleveland Road, both Hartlepool.

He faces other charges of no insurance, no licence and failing to provide a specimen for analysis, but he was not asked to plead to them.

Edward Moss, defending, asked for an adjournment for a pre-sentence report.

Judge Stephen Ashurst told Barclay: “The fact that your case has been adjourned for a pre-sentence report and you have been remanded on bail does not carry any cognizance of what your sentence will be.”

Barclay, of Ellison Street, Hartlepool, will be sentenced on April 3 and he was given the interim driving ban.
