Police appeal after lorry driver is dragged from his vehicle on outskirts of Hartlepool

Police are appealing to the public for help after a HGV driver was pulled from his vehicle on the A19.

It is understood that a blue Mercedes pulled across the carriageway, stopping the HGV on a slip road near to the Wolviston interchange, before the occupants allegedly tried to drag driver from the vehicle and attempted to assault him.

Cleveland Police have said the driver managed to get back into his vehicle and alerted them at a nearby services.

Three men, aged 22, 23 and 33 have been arrested in connection with the incident , which took place on the northbound carriageway on Monday, April 19, at around 6.25pm.

Officers are still appealing for witnesses or dash cam footage which could assist with inquiries.
