Police appeal for witnesses after attempted robbery in street

Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery in Hartlepool.

The incident took place on Thursday, May 21 some time between 7.45pm and 8pm. A male on a bicycle approached the 43-year-old victim from behind and asked her for money.

The incident is thought to have occurred on one of the following streets: Motherwell Road, Monach Road, Moffat Road or Mowbray Road.

The suspect is described as a white male, wearing a black hoodie, with a “fairly young voice” and riding a bike described as “scruffy”.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or has private CCTV of the streets listed, to contact PC Billie Shute on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 081687.
