Police appeal to parents after groups of youths defy coronavirus lockdown

England is currently in its second lockdown in a bid to reverse the continuing rise in cases of Covid-19 across the country.
The rules state children should only socialise with one other child from another household for essential exercise needs in a public place. This is irrespective of what social bubbles they are placed in for school, according to the guidance for public places

Hide AdBut police say officers on patrol over the past few evenings have been faced with large groups of up to 30 or 40 youths congregating in areas around the town.
When questioned, answers have included ‘we are in the same social bubble at school’, ‘we live together’, and ‘our parents said we can meet other people’ while others have claimed not even to know that the country is currently dealing with a Pandemic that has claimed thousands of lives across the country.”
“It is your responsibility to ensure your child is adhering to the social distancing measures set in place by the UK government and whilst doing so are carrying with them the required Personal Protective equipment such as a face mask and hand sanitiser,” said a Cleveland Police statement.
"Covid-19 does not discriminate and could affect anyone at anytime. We must all adhere to the current Government advice and guidelines to ensure we are all doing our very best to protect ourselves and others in the community.”
