Police investigating report 12-year-old girl was assaulted by unknown man in Hartlepool

The incident is said to have happened at about 5.15pm on Saturday, September 26, after the victim and her friend got off a bus on Durham Street near Middlegate.

Cleveland Police is appealing for anyone who saw anything to contact them.

A force spokesperson said: “Police were contacted by a member of the public at 5.15pm on Saturday afternoon, reporting she had come across a 12-year-old girl who said she and a friend had just got off a bus in Durham Street, Hartlepool when she was assaulted by an unknown man.

“Initial details were taken and an officer later spoke to the child’s mother who had taken her to be checked over at hospital for head and facial injuries.

“An investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have seen the incident is asked to contact Cleveland Police via the 101 number, quoting Event 158050.”
