Police issue CCTV image of mystery man in search for missing Gabriel Kariuki
Police searching for missing Hartlepool man Gabriel Kariuki have issued pictures they believe could show him boarding a train shortly after he was last seen.
Detectives working to trace the 26-year-old, who lives in the Grange Road area of the town, have released images that were captured at Hartlepool train station on Tuesday, May 18.
Gabriel was last seen by his mother the previous evening. A later sighting from the early hours of Tuesday places him in Victoria Road, close to Loons public house, and heading in the direction of the Marina.
Now officers have released the new images in a bid to establish whether it is Gabriel that is pictured.
The CCTV images show an unknown man with a bike getting on the Middlesbrough train at 8.28am on Tuesday.
Despite inquiries and liaison with Gabriel’s family, detectives have not been able to confirm - or discount - that the man pictured is actually him.
Now they are asking anyone who can provide information on the mystery man’s identity to get in touch.
"We would ask the person pictured to come forward, so if it’s not Gabriel, we can discount the photos from our inquiries,” said a Cleveland Police statement.
“If you are the person in the images or if you have any information which could help our inquiries, please call Cleveland Police on 101, ref 079458."
Gabriel is described as a black male, of medium build, and around 5ft 6inches tall, with black hair which was braided on top and shaved at the sides.
