Police seize more than 100 cannabis plants in raid on commercial premises in Hartlepool

Police have discovered the remains of a ‘substantial’ cannabis farm in a building in Hartlepool.

Officers from Hartlepool Neighbourhood Police Team were informed of a cannabis farm in a commercial building in York Road this morning, Friday, July 3.

They recovered more than 100 plants from the scene.

A Cleveland Police statement said: “In the building was what was left of a substantial cannabis farm that spread over two floors.

“The wiring was dangerous on the upper floors which posed a fire risk to buildings and any persons living next door to the address.

“Approximately 109 plants remained in the building on our arrival.

“This type of operation puts our communities at risk, and we will always act on any information provided.

“These cannabis farms are often linked to organised crime groups and we urge any person with information to contact Cleveland Police on 101, or alternatively on Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
