A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: “The young male rider attempted to evade officers and in doing so the chain snapped on the vehicle.

“The youth then jumped from the moving quad and left it to continue to roll towards parked vehicles in Runciman Road.

“Fortunately, the quad narrowly missed the parked cars and stopped just short of a house fence.”

Officers seized the vehicle following and thankfully, no damage was caused to anything nearby.

The Force has claimed that this incident has highlighted the dangers posed by the anti-social use of vehicles in the town and local communities.
