Speeding Hartlepool motorist's driving near school 'could have been catastrophic'

Police say a mystery motorist’s dangerous driving near a primary school “could have been catastrophic”.

They say such behaviour will not be tolerated and now want the public’s help in tracing the driver.

Officers spotted a car in Catcote Road, Hartlepool, “overtaking several cars at speed and going through a red light” at the junction with Truro Drive before the vehicle was later found abandoned near Wisbech Close.

Hartlepool Neighbourhood Policing Team said in a social media statement afterwards: “This type of driving will not be tolerated and within such a close proximity to Fens Primary School, when the children are leaving school, is unacceptable and the outcome could have been catastrophic.”

Anyone with any information regarding the incident, which took place at around 3pm on Tuesday, October 6, or the identity of the motorist, should contact 101, quoting reference number 163927, or phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
